Classic Japanese Pranks Featuring Awesome Giant Rocks
This is how you film a hidden camera show. From way back in the day. With squirting microphones. And giant plastic rocks. On TV. In Japan.

This is how you embarrass both sexes. At the same time. And involve a heart rate monitor. From extra kicks. On TV. In Japan.
WARNING: While this clip is short, there looks to be a little boob in it. You are warned.
While the quality of this video certainly isn’t the best, some of you (namely the arcade/fighting game fiends) in my audience might appreciate it.
It’s new footage of Tekken 6 and it’s tearing up the Japanese YouTube charts. That’s it.
If it ain’t for you, you know it.
Obviously a clip from some other show (it reminds me of the Just for Laughs Stuff from Montreal) the Japanese give it the old picture-in-picture treatment just for added gawkerisms.
Would you look? It’d be hard not to. Not just because it’s underwear. It’s that whole out-of-the-ordinary thing. At least that’s what I’m going to tell [...]
I’m pretty sure this guy knew what was going to happen to him but it’s still not a bad bit for being done live at night, over rough terrain. Supposedly, this was another New Year’s day thing which, if true, makes New Year’s in Japan the most insane time ever.
This is how you leverage the wisdom of crowds. To make the funny. On TV. In Japan.
Thanks to TViJ reader Hates_ for the tip!
This is how you get back to your roots. When you’re a multi-million album selling mega-star. With awesome hair. That still can’t be contained by your gas station attendent’s hat. On TV. In Japan.
While I think Downtown’s Batsu games have a lot more depth than this, I do believe the addition of the spitting liquid adds a whole new visual element to the ‘no-laugh’ genre.
While this may just be video from Japan (and not TV), it features Giant Robots and awkwardness. Therefore, I give it a pass.
You know somewhere Quiro is just laughing his ass off.
Japanorama was/is a series of video tapes cobbled together by some amazing producers/pirates from deep underground his/her hidden bunker. They were available online for a while and have since disappeared.
But finally someone has taken the time to put them on YouTube. And for that we should all be grateful.
First up, how about some amazing underwear [...]
Thanks to TViJ reader Charlie Lui we again have another awesome, yet-brutally insensitive D-1 video.
For those unfamiliar with D-1, don’t be so sure you’re unfamiliar. After all, D-1 is responsible for the Jet-Rocket Lounge-Chair Naked Skiing prank, the Lift-O-Matic Outhouse prank and the Ridiculous Cab Ride From Hell prank. These guys do pranks right.
Here, it’s [...]
This is a moral aptitude test. Or more aptly, this is how these Japanese men fail a moral aptitude test. On TV. In Japan.
Warning: One naked boob is present in this clip. One. Plus, some women in underwear. Just so you knows.
Again, thanks to dbsboy for the D-1 clips. Unfortunately, he tells me he’s running [...]
You learn something new everyday.
Like, did you know that the Japanese have a word (or at least a slang term) that represents the sound of an erection rising?
Or better yet that they made a TV show (or at least a segment) about a guy with an erection? That they then took to a gym [...]
This is a series of unfortunate events. Planned unfortunate events. Really funny unfortunate events. On TV. In Japan.
While these two clips may not be as amazing as the Outhouse Prank or the Cop Crazy Taxi Ride, they’re still D-1 and they’re still pretty awesome.
Giant Balloon:
Ghost in the Road:
Again, thanks to TViJ reader dbsboy for this D-1 amazingness.
