The Peanuts: Japan’s First Identical Twin Pop Superstars

The Peanuts were identical twin sisters that rose from humble beginning to become one of Japan’s first international superstars. Not only did they host their own show, called Shabondama Holiday” (Soap Bubble Holiday), but they also proceeded to record the themes for the Mothra movies.

Yes, I’m pretty sure this was a subplot at some point in a David Lynch film. Enjoy!

And one of the lovely Mothra songs for good measure!

Are there any Chopstick Sisters videos? I’ve heard of them, but never seen them. Twins (Charlene Choi and Gillian Chung) played characters named for them in Fantasia (2004). When I first saw the Peanuts, I wondered if Chopstick Sisters might have rode on their coattails as a twin group.

Am afraid to tell you the second video isn’t The Peanuts (and I should know, I’m the person who uploaded it to Youtube).

That is The Peanuts later replacements, The Ailenas (also known as Pair Bambi), who played Mothra’s twin fairies the Shobijin in Gojira, Ebirâ, Mosura: Nankai No Daiketto.
