Pretty Good Japanese Life Vlog - Life In Tokyo Visits Ice Cream City

Just found this good, engaging account of a visit to Ice Cream City, home of Cow Tongue Ice Cream and other torturous flavors, from the Vlog “Life In Tokyo”. While I may be both behind the times and culturally insignificant, I’ve never seen it and thought it was well done. I’ll dip back further into the archives to see what else lies there.

Part One is here:

Part Two here:

Nice work on these TokyoCooney. Looking forward to more!

Japan does this to people.

Wonderful. Instant classic among my friends.

Hmm… entertaining in a “what if Jeff Goldblum and Tom Green mated?” kind of way… but the question is, is it mandatory for EVERY foreigner in Japan to act like a clown? …ah, what the hell am I doing here…

I second everything *anonymous* said.

I mean, the guy does a pretty good job of keeping the video entertaining, and I didn’t watch part two at all, but seriously, I live in Tokyo. I eat squid/octopus/etc. at least 3 times a week. It’s a big part of the diet here and it’s damn good stuff. Also, those octopus suckers are tiny, so there’s no way he was chewing on it for that long. The man is seriously embellishing on how bad the ice cream is. And it’s that kind of stuff that I don’t appreciate from foreigners–I’m sure he doesn’t intend to make fun of the Japanese culture, but that’s just how it comes off to me.

The sucker was probably rubbery from being undercooked and frozen in ice cream.

I do wish people would focus more on the awesome food in Japan than on the horrible food. I bet there are some amazing flavors of ice cream in that store.

To Both thedude and anonymous: The guy is Kevin Cooney, he’s a professional comedian and a part of The Tokyo Comedy Store. YES, that ice cream is truly HORRID TASTING - go to Ice Cream City in Namjatown at the Ikebukuro Sunshine City complex and try it for yourself before you make anymore asinine comments about something you know truly nothing about from a first-hand experience.
