‘Debu Note’ - The Death Note Parody Wherein One Gets Fat Instead of Dead

You probably know/have heard of ‘Death Note‘ the anime/manga/live action movie where a high school student discovers a book which will kill anyone who’s name is written in it.

The anime is quite good and readily available on YouTube and, while I haven’t seen the live action film, the trailer looks awesome.

It is amazingly popular in Japan and has become a cultural touchstone, so much that we are now seeing parodies in full force. Here, the guys from SMAP on their show SMAP X SMAP decide that death really isn’t all that bad, that there’s something much worse that could happen to the person in the book. They could get fat (debu).

Via the guys over at JapanSugogi.

I love the Japanese. They’re not afraid to tell it like it is. I hope they don’t become fat and gay like Americans.
