There is something suspiciously wrong with the egg video. Notice the smooth motion of the egg, and the choppy motion of the man in the background. If not faked, this video is at least a composite from two different cameras.

Actually, it’s not fake. Due to the arc made while swing the sword, the sword tip travels much faster than the persons hand holding the sword. Therefore, in slo-mo, the hands look choppy while the sword tip looks to be moving very smoothly.

Whatever it is, it’s just amazing :) Now I don’t know if it’s fake or real thing, but I loved the slow motion effect and the way tomato was sliced in two while the upper portion seems to have no knowledge about what’s happening beneath it.

I want to comment about the authenticy of the video. The mans hand looks choppy because in japanese swordsmanship the cut is made by individual thrusting his hands in a downward motion so in fact the tip of the blade is moving much faster than the mans ha April 26th, 2007 at 11:44 pm

Once the egg has been sliced, there are no more forces acting on the egg, except gravity and air resistance, so its motion will be smooth, in contrast to the swordsperson, whose body is still adjusting the the katana’s momentum.

You people are ridiculous with these comments. You obviously have no idea about these swords and absolutely no RESPECT for the Samuri, the art of the sword, what goes into making a true Samuri sword and Bushido.
