Cosplay/Furries + Competition + Pain + Weird = Nearly Perfect Japanese TV

There are simple times in life when things just seem to fall into place.

Moments where everything works suddenly: lights change perfectly on your way home, unexpected short windfalls of money found under seat cushions, the Tivo actually recorded what you wanted and didn’t cut anything off.

This is one of those times.

The following clip contains so much of what makes TV in Japan itself that I will not burden you with a description.

Be nourished in its wonder.

What exactly is it that they are falling into? I’m assuming it’s not your average everyday water judging by their reactions.

  2. gavinpurcell says:

I think it’s scalding hot water. It’s a tradition on Japanese TV.

  3. Judge Rage says:

Yes..it is hot water, though it seems to get not so hot later (or at least for the guys that fell into it once or twice). It’s a very complicated set for a simple concept (that’s why you gotta love TV in Japan)…I like how the trampoline never works for any of them, but they still keep trying.

  4. Badtz says:

Man, this site may owe me a new keyboard and monitor. I mistakenly drank some water while watching that video, and actually spit a mouthful all over my desk while laughing. Really.

    That was genius.

  5. lacer8 says:

This is from SuiJuu. My wife loves this show. I like it too - the physical comedy part. And yes, that water is hot.

  6. Colin says:

Wait- what’s that white powder stuff they go to after getting out of the water?

  7. WaveExistence says:

That was messed up to the max. WTF!? I cannot even begin to understand that guy dressed up as a female furry.

That white stuff they all jump into when they get out of the water is ice.

I had my toddler and preschooler next to me when I watched it and they were dying laughing! In fact, they made me play it over and over again! Japanese TV appeals to all ages apparently.

[...] Over at TV-In-Japan, aside from a crappy web layout, they have a clip from youtube that is an example of everything that is right and wrong with Japanese TV and culture. According to the comments, the user kazuhima has several more of the same available on his youtube account. [...]

I know I’m late on this one… but I had to comment. Why does the tiger person sound like a man but have breasts and sometimes looks like Michael Jackson?

Maybe I answered my own question.

  15. Anonymous says:

I think the “Tiger” is that over-glorified fag club kid Kojo from ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT… or his ‘loving’ brother.
